Opening Concert – Trio Kazé

Saturday 2 August 2025 – 9 PM
Collégiale Saint-Pancrace, Aups

To open this 1st edition of the Haut-Var Chamber Music Festival, we are delighted to welcome the Trio Kazé. The musicians who make up this trio met while studying at the Frankfurt Hochschule and had the honour of working with Jaan Bossier, professor of chamber music, for two years. Comprising a clarinettist, a cellist and a pianist, Trio Kazé takes you on a journey between France and Germany, from the early Romantic period to the very end of the 20th century.

The first notes of this week of concerts will be written by the French romantic composer Louise Farrenc, the first woman professor at the Paris Conservatoire and a respected and celebrated figure in the mid-19th century. This work, a bridge between the classical and romantic periods, is of magnificent finesse and intensity, while retaining a certain restraint.

We then continue our journey eastwards with composer Pascal Dusapin and a movement from his Trio Rombach, premiered in Strasbourg in 1998. This musical interlude takes us into a contemplative atmosphere of blurred colours, inviting the mind to wander for a moment.
