Miharu Ogura

Piano

Miharu Ogura, a pianist and composer originally from Tokyo, Japan, is based in Frankfurt, Germany.

Her career began in 2018 when she received seven prizes at the 13th Orléans International Piano Competition, including the “André Chevillon - Yvonne Bonnaud” Composition Prize. In 2023, she won the Second Prize and the Prize for the best interpretation of Messiaen's works at the Olivier Messiaen International Competition.

Her first album, ‘Ogura Plays Stockhausen’ (2023), and her second album of original compositions (2024), were released on the Thanatosis Produktion label.

As a composer, she has received commissions from Radio France and the Venice Biennale; her works have been performed by ensembles and soloists such as the Trio Estatico, the Fabrik Quartet, Francesco Tristano and Filippo Gorini, at prestigious venues including La Scala. Her music is published by SZ sugar (Edizioni Suvini Zerboni). In 2026, she will present a commission for solo viola, premiered in London by Lawrence Power.

She completed her Master’s degree and then her Konzertexamen in Florian Hölscher’s class at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. She was a scholarship holder of the Mozart Foundation of 1838 in Frankfurt from 2024 to 2025.
